We have snow like we have not had for years

January 22, 2013 by dave   Comments (3)

Well what with the weather chucking all that rain at us earlier we now have about 10 inches of snow, (mind you all the plots look the same clean and tidy).

Do not know how long it will be before I will be able to start doing stuff on the plot, more snow forecast for tonight in the early hours.

This is a photo of the front garden.

A New Addition to my collection

I have now got a Fig Tree not very large but it has some small figs on it. I am wondering how quickly it will grow and wether or not to plant it at the plot or home. Depends on the answer to my "Question here on site" The trouble with growing at home is I am high up and exposed to the wind which might not be good for the tree but it might not produce for a number of years and I might not have the plot but will be at home (I hope).

Our 72nd Allotment Show

September 8, 2012 by dave   Comments (2)

Well considering the bad year we have had the show went down very well indeed quality and quantity down on last year but all things considered we did very well.  We took nearly £250 from the auction and refreshment sales + raffle ticket sales.

Some photos.

Picked my first Rasberries and some Blackberries from the hedges at the Plot

Had a very good day at an Allotment show.

August 26, 2012 by dave   Comments (2)

Went to an Allotment about 4 miles away and one of the largest in Birmingham it has 227 plots a beautiful licenced clubhouse where the show was held. I went to pick their brains as to how they turn the show around so quickly and start the auction at 3-00 o-clock. Met most of the committee, and very friendly and helpfull they were to.

Our show has been going for 72 years now and is far to long for 2012 and serious needs lightening up and condensing the auction does not start till 18-00 hrs far to late as people want to get home for tea or dinner.

Here are some photos.

Here is a plan of the site very nice it is to

If everyone who had an allotment kept their plots like this, great for all.

If everyone who had a plot kept them like this it would be heaven for everyone around the plot NO weeds to seed and spread to all and sunder. (G have a guess at what nationallity he is the guy whose plot it is)

I know this is not really the place to ask questions but G have you any idea what these are they come up every year I thought they were rasberry canes but never any flowers or fruit on them.
