I have a really small garden in this year due to my health issues but I have a couple of tomatoes in the greenhouse just about ready to pick and the Piekny Jas runners are flowering and starting to produce beans, these will be kept for seed. The other pole beans aren't even flowering yet. Only have one cucumber vine doing anything the others are just sitting there, I think I had some bad seed. The raspberries and strawberries outdid themselves, we got all we wanted then invited our neighbor to come over and pick what she wanted.

Hi Annette sorry you not been so good hope you soon get better. I am in the same boat as you a smaller place to grow stuff now I not got the plot, shame some of your things failed.

Bad year all round planted 4 rows of peas and had enough for one meal. Runner beans are ok after a slow start.
Winter greens are going well , had to puddle them in the  ground being so hard and cracked  Well have to see what next week
brings.

Dont think your the only grower to have a poorer than normal season been a dry year for most we had things that were hard to get germinated and some that were late getting away .. Don't know about what next week will bring I'm just hoping next year will be better..

Clearing the potato bed now ( I like to leave them in until now seem to store better in situ )was going to follow this bed with onion sets & got some snowball but apparently not good for storing any tips on what sets are good for storage ( gonna try from seed as well but not relying on them as never seem to work for me )  :-)=

Hello Jason  lifted my spuds a couple of weeks ago think it,s been the best year we have had for a few years .. winter onions are ok but have there problems I think if the weather gets too wet they can rot in the ground and you only get them about a month to 6 weeks earlier than normal .. I normally just plant stuttgarter in the spring they make a decent sized onion and store well .. Have done seed onions before sometimes I do well other years not as good but always worth a try as you can get a lot more varieties of seed onions compared to sets  hope this helps ..

Yes cheers scary I think I'm going to do half snowball now & stuttgarter in spring wanted to try radar but sets are already sold out here in north London tried from garden centres from Waltham Abbey & chingford,  crews hill ( big garden centre area) to st Albans & not 1 pack of sets was going to order on line but not paying 5:99 for shipping any way gives me more time to play around clearing weeds cheers

Still loads of jobs to do still have beans to take down. Winter veg all looking good black kale ready to pick also the cabbage  Have to see what next week brings  we might get a dry day.
