Is this scab or blight or ?

Dug my spuds yesterday ( I know far too late ),& a few are marked like the photo is this blight or slugs only this variety had it

Hello Jasonofaskwiff. Welcome to the 'Shed'

At the moment I'm afraid we're in mourning on the forum, so you might not have many responding for a while, so to help you out, I'm posting an answer now. Although I administer the forum, I haven't been on for a while due to problems of my own.

I would say it's slight scab around the edges where damage has been caused by slugs. Strangely, slugs prefer certain varieties to others, hence my guess is why you have this problem on a specific variety. Also slug damage is more likely if you've left your crop in the ground a bit long.

No real harm done, just peel away the affected areas until you get clean flesh. You can then cook them as usual. You'll soon know if you come across a blighted one. By this time of the year a blighted tuber will stink to high heaven!
