Now that's different!
« : January 29, 2014, 08:45:56 AM »
Just read the Arche Noah newsletter (Heritage Seed Library equivalent in Austria) and they have come up with a novel idea to help preserve seed diversity, just ahead of the EU vote on 11th February.  An artist created seed envelope, which we can fill with OP seeds and send to EU commissioners.  Perhaps the most unusual looking heritage bean?  A 'real' reminder placed right into their hands to show what this is all about.

And here is a list of addresses.  The people in green have special interest/responsibilities.

Yes different but if it helps them to get the message it could work anything is worth a try to try and save what we have got . :)

Sounds a good idea. Would it have any impact on these people though? After all, WE feel that way about heritage seeds - because of the way we are - they are probably a different kettle of fish, being politicians. But I'm prepared to try anything that adds a bit of weight to the cause.

I am willing to give it a try but it could go two ways.

First they could look at all the millions of seeds they receive and say "OMG there is strong feeling about this around the world's voters, we had better rethink"

OR  - and perhaps more likely, they could say

"Now just look at this lot, all these billions of uncertified seeds lying around means we really should have acted earlier.

Call me pessimistic if you like but the EU is one group of nutters I really do not trust to do anything except justify their own existence.

Sad world we live in at times.

Good job there are so many great people living in our midst without and self seeking motives.
