We've gone from fairly mild weather into cold almost over night, no gradual change, It went down to 30f in the greenhouse the other night so it was time to haul out the electric heater again, kept on a timer it's only on from 12 a.m. to 8 in the morning but will be nudging it up as it gets colder.
Yesterday it snowed all day, just a fine flake so according to the weatherman should be gone by tomorrow. Still it looks like winter has arrived, just hoping it's not one like last year, I lost a lot of things that I've had for years.
Winters here can be balmy (shirt sleeve weather) or the can be knee high deep in the white stuff and cold enough to freeze the you know whats off a brass monkey.

Hi Ya, Well being a bit sad I take note of rainfall and for us October was the driest on my record for 6 years. we only got .4", then November in the first two days it nearly equalled it at .3". More rain forecast tomorrow. Also November hit with a sharp frost last night and the temperature as AM said it happened quick. Still all the nasty bugs that were revelling in mild weather hopefully have been reduced a bit. Happy gardening

First frost of the year down here too. It's amazing how the cold steel of the sheep hurdles bites your fingers at 5:45am. It was lamb moving day today and they had to be at the abattoir by 7:30. Still, all done now. The pigs go next Monday but at least they don't have to be there until about 11:00am - a bit more civilised.

It's been blowing a howler here since last night 50mph winds overnight (kept me awake with hailstones and rain battering on our bedroom window).

Not even a hint of frost in this part of the world though, but that's not unusual, it's the wind and rain that lashes us - frost is a very infrequent visitor over the winter months on the west coast.

Yep, cold here too. Yesterday there was between 5 & 10mm of ice on drinkers, water trays etc.

Great day for being inside with the wood burner ticking away keeping my ageing bones warm. TLR is away with our daughter ( Starryshapes ) at my brothers in France so I've just got myself and the dogs to look after.

Pre-prepared frozen dinners, plenty of lamb and pork in the freezer, fridge loaded with home brew, endless episodes of Bonanza, Goodnight Sweetheart, only Fools and Horses, films on Netflix etc.. Making the most of it before they get back on Sunday evening.

Hi ya, brass monkey's here as well. Snow yesterday and sleety rain over night. The wind is one those lazy ones it won't go round you just though. Had two weeks driving to work with no heater in car they said two weeks to fix it, I went in to the dealers and created for today. Will see how I get on as the car is only 3 yrs 2 months old and they told me the motor was gone, I have told them that they have sold me a new car with a motor not fit for purpose. Some more arguing ahead me thinks. Will post hat goes on in a proper way next. Keep Warm all

Well spotted , Gee. Although it's milder at the moment, apparently come Monday next we are going to slip back into the cold. Get out those woo lies, folks, and stay warm.
