Hi Ya, Well been a busy few weeks at work, UGH! we got a bit of storm Aileen yesterday not a lot of rain but winds gusting to 56mph. I called in the plot on way home only to find my sweetcorn plants have had battering from the wind and my runner bean rows on the floor. I had some good pods I was saving for seed aswell. I was late putting them in but had some of the best purple runners yet for colour so will have to have a delve through the aftermath and see if I can retrieve them. I hope every one else is ok. We are told we are getting some more later with blustery wind and heavy rain. Oh well why did I choose gardening a sa hobby? still the worst day gardening is better than the best day at work LOL. happy gardening

You betcha it was rough here - it doesn't get much rougher than the west Wales coast when Atlantic storms blow in! Huge winds, with REAL rain & hailstones for nearly two days. Still windy and rough, but the worst is over. No real damage, apart from a few apples & pears evacuating their homes!

Glad to hear that the Aeron Purple Stars did well. Pity about the supports, maybe a Big Gee designed 'V' frame for next season?  Grin2:-)

Hi Ya, I usually have a good strong support but as I was late putting everything in due to other things going on like a pratt I cut corners from my usual way. Lesson learnt. I'm 64 and will I ever learn LOL. Rain did not develop last night but they are saying today, happy gardening and keep the hatches battened down.

It certainly 'developed' here! We had bucketfuls last night - the most rain we've had in one go for months. It was raining so hard it woke us up battering on the bedroom window  spf:-(

Welcome 'dear' Ophilia! She's winding up here to be a real 'blower'. 80+ mph winds expected here this afternoon, and they're not lying - it's already too windy to safely go outside.

The joys of life on the west coast! Our poor Irish cousins are now in the middle of it, and as it's coming in from the Atlantic, and travelling eastwards we're next  spf:-(

Stay safe everyone, although this year weather wise here has been not the best for gardening it's doesn't come anywhere near anything others around the world have had to deal with. We had some very nasty forest fires but nothing like California. Earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, it's been one disaster after another. I'm almost dreading what old mother nature will be throwing at us next year. Then all these terrorist attacks, snipers, I dread turning the news on.

Horrible thoughts, Annette, but, whatever you do don't let them get you down.

It seems that here in the heart of the Dordogne we're in a weather bubble. Hot hot hot, some cooling breezes in the evening with cold beers on the terrace. A thunder storm gently blew in tonight after sundown and gave us some welcome rain and a spectacular electric lightning show. Pulsing, rolling thunder eventually drifted away to leave clear air and a cosy night.

Wish you were all here to enjoy it with me.

Ho-hum yet another day to look forward to tomorrow on the west coast, as Brian approaches. We're told it'll make landfall here in the morning. At the moment it's grey and calm, the calm before the storm!
 ss:-(

Alright for some sipping their cool beers in the Dordogne!

Been a decent day here today mild and at last the wind has calmed down hoping to get to plot one day this week and have a tidy up lots of weeds to dig out and start rough digging for the winter ..

Storm Brian has been, roared and gone. No damage - apart from a few more tons of gravel left behind on Aberystwyth promenade. The road is still closed, and will be for a few days, whilst they clear the gravel away.

It's gone very nippy here. You can tell it's autumn now - no rain though but there's a brrrr in the air!

Yes nippy today when we took the dogs for a walk managed to avoid the wind on some of the walk as they have grown maize here and theres lots of it here about 7 foot tall and thick so that holds off some of the wind only downside of the crop is it,s like having the berlin wall all around you and spoils the view ..

Back to Devon with a shiver this morning.

Nice and sunny but cold. Out with the lined fleeces and thicker socks...loads to catch up on after being away for 3 weeks.

One of the coldest mornings we have had for a long time we have been spoilt because it has been warmer than it should be for quite a while now.
A bit of a shock to the system first time I wore my woolly hat for a long time.
First time I been to plot since my accident and the first time for 5weeks I have not been in pain not taken any pain killers today at last I can try and catch up from 5 weeks of doing nothing.   ThU32:-)
