Are these fuckwits so blind??

Remember Violet Carson's  'Silent Dawn' and the DDT and organophosphate expose? Here we go again. Only, in my opinion this is far worse. The very infrastructure of our natural world  is being undermined.

I know this is being repeated over and over but PLEASE don't stop signing these petitions. If you happen to be a Tory voter, it is YOUR government that is allowing this to happen.  If you are a labour voter, your government let this happen too. Write to your MP (it's very easy to do online) , threaten to change your vote - even if you don't mean it, it might make them take notice. If you write to them they HAVE to answer you.

Sorry to keep banging on about it but we can't let them get away with it through our own complacency. There is a very true saying: 'it only takes a few good men to do nothing, for evil to prevail'.

Remember...One World, One Life, One Chance. Now sign it!

I got this through from Rebecca Falcon (of 38 Degrees) yesterday:

Quote
Dear Gwilym,

Politicians would rather we didnít know about TTIP, the deal between America and Europe that could give corporations the right to sue the UK if they donít like our laws. [1] So 38 Degrees members are taking to the streets on Saturday 22nd August, to explain to people whatís at stake, and encourage them to sign the Europe-wide petition against the deal. [2]

By breaking through the secrecy surrounding this deal, weíll turn the public against it and stop our politicians from letting it pass.

But if you canít make it on the day, you can still help. Every 38 Degrees volunteer going out on the day needs a pack of leaflets which explain TTIP simply (to hand out), posters, badges and petition sheets. Each Ďno TTIPí pack costs just £7. Theyíre as cheap as they can be, but they arenít free.

23 members of 38 Degrees from your area are going along, Gwilym -- including Anne, Mike and Brian. Could you help cover the cost of a 'no TTIP' pack for one of them? By paying for a pack with 200 leaflets, you'll have helped expose TTIP to another 200 people! Not bad for £7. So please can you chip in now?

38 Degrees is funded entirely by members like you. [3] Not by big business, rich individuals or political parties. That means we can hold everyone to account: including the powerful forces behind TTIP.

Going out and talking to strangers about TTIP can be a daunting experience if you havenít done it before. But for each volunteer going out on the day, knowing the leaflets they hand out and the petition sheets they fill with signatures have been paid for by another 38 Degrees member, will really spur them on. It's a great way of showing weíre all standing together, even if you canít be there on the day.

This huge event will only be possible if we raise enough money to send a pack of materials to all the volunteers. Please chip in £7 now to pay for a pack of materials for a volunteer from your area:

Thanks for being involved,

Amy, Blanche and the 38 Degrees team

PS: Itís not too late to join your local team in Ceredigion. Click here to sign-up - youíll get more information and support before the day and you can chat to other local 38 Degrees members beforehand:

It's obvious that the ploy, hat I guess has been hatched by our 'nephew' across the pond along with big global businesses, is to get laws that have been passed democratically - against poisons - by-passed  so that big companies can sue governments of countries if they don't like the laws they pass. It's beyond belief!

Yes, it's true what you say. Now have a look at this: it would appear that Bayer and Syngenta were there when the decision to overturn the ban was made. I wonder how many swimming pools and fancy cars are going to appear at certain MP's residences!

Disgusting!

I am not a regular Guardian reader but of all the Nationals the Guardian seem to realise the seriousness of the situation the most.  George Monbiot takes, in my opinion, a very balanced view of the neonicotinoids problem, drawing on examples throughout history.

It stinks doesn't it?

Sheer tokenism - to keep the natives quiet. Pretend to have meetings, pretend to have consultations, then hold a meeting where outcomes have been decided before hand by those the meeting is about!

They must think we're ALL stupid!  Angry:-{

The current government are past masters at this kind of behaviour - from attempted changes in fox hunting laws (through the back door) to dodging EU legislations on the ban of dangerous poisons - all triggered by the money and influence excerted by the greedy rich and privelleged.

The only ones better at it are the 'Republican' party across the pond.

bees in the news again

BREAKING: Bees

13:01 (2 hours ago)

Dear Mick, spuds

Breaking: toxic pesticides are killing our bees. Thatís the headline that pesticide company bosses have been dreading. And itís splashed all over the news thanks to new research out today. [1] [2]

Bees pollinate the food we need to live. Itís simple: no bees, no people. These pesticides are banned across Europe right now. But because of Brexit our governmentís deciding which EU laws to keep. [3] Letís make sure the pesticide ban is one of them.

If thousands of 38 Degrees members get this new research straight into our MPsí inboxes, we can make sure the government keeps the EU law which bans these toxic pesticides. We can make sure they see the facts - not the spin of big money pesticide lobbyists.

Please will you email your MP now to make sure they see this new research?

Thereís some text to get you started so it should take less than 2 minutes:

Email your MP

This new research has made headlines all over the world today. [4] Together we can get these toxic pesticides banned for good - the first step is getting our MPs onboard. Letís make sure they see this new research today while itís top of the news bulletins.

Today, lobbyists will be throwing everything into swinging the decision their way. Theyíre desperate to get their chemicals back on UK fields. They have deep pockets - but we have people power, and together we can persuade our politicians to do the right thing.

Can you email your MP today to make sure theyíre listening to the science, not the dodgy pesticide lobbyists?

Email your MP

 Thanks for being involved

Maddy, Rachel, Tom, Kathryn and the 38 Degrees team

PS: Scientists have found that these pesticides have a severe effect on our wildlife. But we donít just have to take their word for it - we can see it happening right now. In parts of China, these toxic pesticides were used so much that there are no bees left to pollinate anything. People are having to pollinate flowers one by one - by hand. [5]

By working together we can make sure that such a nightmare scenario doesnít become the norm. Please email your MP now:
