Did anyone notice?
« on: December 21, 2014, 06:31:58 PM »

Today was the winter solstice - the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. SO from now on it's down hill. The days will start to get longer as we approach the spring - bring it on I say!!  clap:-)

Yep, me too, or should I say 'We Two,Too'

This is the day we raise a glass or 3 to the end of the old year and into the New. We of the more Pagan orientation, being less influenced by all this pseudo-religious, capitalist-fueled nonsense, prefer to observe the more down to earth and gentile nature of our passage from one year and season to the next.

Happy New Year to you all.

My Celtic genes that are calling from the wild tend to draw me in that direction too Tommo, although this modern make believe pagan ritual crap gets my goat. A bunch of drop-outs dressed like hippies who dance around Stonehenge with sprigs of oak and mistletoe and call themselves Druids is a real sickener. A bit like Hollywood's depiction of 'Red' Indians dancing around & hooping. It's degrading and disrespectful to our ancient cultures. And don't start me off on this (as you rightly say) capitalist fuelled man made pseudo-religious celebrations - where they get fairies mixed up with angels on Christmas trees, and everyone dresses up like an alcoholic old man in a red suit and a red nose & bushy white beard. Mass madness! I'm getting REALLY fed up of people greeting me with "Hello Santa Claus"!  Angry:-{

A quiet spirit of contemplation as the seasons pass is, to my jaded druidic soul, an important aspect of communing with mother earth. I hate this commercialised shopaholic frenzy that goes on at every manmade cover-up of important festivals.

See Tommo - as I pointed out in an earlier post - all 'spookily' singing from the same hymn sheet! There must be a common denominator that makes so many of us Chat-Shed members see these things in the same light - not quantum entanglement is it????what:-o

S.A.D sufferer myself but I have found that one of those high lux lamps does make a big difference as long as I start using it as soon as the nights really start to draw in. Its better if I get it in use around October time.

At least another few weeks and we will begin to see a little more daylight and those feathered friends will begin to let us know it is happening.   BOF)

Not suggesting super-luminal communication, are we, Gee? The only things moving faster than light round here are the slugs on my lettuce! More likely to be 'mental murmerations', after all we are 'birds of a feather'.

The only 'murmurations' around here are the starlings around Aberystwyth pier!

Hmmm "super-luminal communication" - worth a thought innit?  :-)snigger

Seen the new series on BBC 4?
